Elon Musk Spills His Heart to the New York Times

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has shown his vulnerable side to the world in a way never before seen.

In a far-reaching interview with the New York Times last month, the enigmatic CEO opens up on his personal and professional turmoil, citing exhaustion, an ongoing Securities and Exchange Commission investigation, and an infamous Twitter posting about taking the company private.

Musk even confessed to his use of Ambien for sleep, with other drugs long speculated by the public as a possible reason for his emotional outbursts.

"It seemed like better karma at $420 than at $419," said Musk in response to his announcement regarding taking Tesla private. "But I was not on weed, to be clear. Weed is not helpful for productivity. There's a reason for the word 'stoned.' You just sit there like a stone on weed."

One of the most enthralling portions of the interview was his long work hours, claiming 120 hours a week, spending three or four days straight at Tesla's Gigafactory, with no week off since 2001 due to a bout with malaria.
