Eddie Bauer Will Pay Fees for 1,000 Campsites in Washington and Oregon This August

Eddie Bauer will give away 1,000 free campsites this August.

With summer here, now is the perfect time to head into the outdoors and do some camping. Outdoor brand Eddie Bauer knows camping gear, and that is why they have decided to hold a "Sleep Under the Stars Night" to provide 1,000 campsites free of charge at Oregon and Washington State Parks this year.

The big campout is slated to happen on August 7. This is the second year that Eddie Bauer will hold this event. The idea is to get people into the wilderness to experience camping who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to get out and enjoy nature.

The giveaway will be done through social media with nonprofit partners and Eddie Bauer's One Outside program. They want to ensure the sites go to people who face barriers to enjoying outdoor activities. Organizations like Unlikely Hikers, Disabled Hikers, HBCUs Outside, The High Fives Foundation, Color Outside, and the Venture Out Project are partners in promoting the event.

Eddie Bauer President Damien Huang detailed a little more about some of the barriers the company is hoping to knock down with the promotion in a press release.

"Camping is a quintessential outdoor experience. We want to help facilitate that experience by providing campsites to those in our own backyard who face obstacles - such as lack of transportation or funds to reserve campsites - with the opportunity to sleep under the stars with us on August 7," Huang said in a press release. "We hope that this campsite giveaway will eliminate some of those hurdles and help more members of our communities enjoy the incredible outdoor spaces throughout the Pacific Northwest."

Sounds like a great cause, and there is arguably no better place to hook someone on the outdoors for life than the beauty of Washington and Oregon's forests. Anyone interested in participating in the event is asked to visit the Eddie Bauer website for more information and to follow @eddiebauer on Instagram.
