I am guilty of dropping the rod tip too low and early on some occasions. All this does is have a negative impact on the cast, not giving enough time for that line loop to complete its movement forward. A good way to examine your cast and get some pointers is draw on one of your experienced friends or head down to your local fly shop. Their instructors will be glad to take a look at your cast and give some pointers.

Even if you are an experienced fly angler take a minute to review your casting technique, it will pay dividends once you are back on the river.
