Chicagoans Tired of the City in Winter Go Fishing on Lake Michigan this Year

Winter in the city of Chicago isn't usually a time for fishing on Lake Michigan.

This year, however, it is. With the warmer weather, more Chicagoans are getting away from the city and fishing Lake Michigan. Some, like Tim Frey, are taking a boat onto the open water.

"I like to fish for the salmon and trout but there's a lot of other species: perch, carp, catfish, everything like that. The fishing's still good this time of year," he says.

Frey is one of the captains on Lake Michigan who fish no matter what the weather.

Others are taking advantage of the warmer weather to fish from shore.

Even with the warmer weather, Chicago city dwellers who decide to fish Lake Michigan still have to bundle up.

And with the water at 37 degrees, you don't want to go in for an unplanned swim.
