About 112,000 2016-2018 Chevrolet Cruze LS' models recalled due to the risk of a fuel leak in an accident.
This year seems to be the year of the recall. Left, right and center we're hearing about brake issues, leaky fuel lines, terrible steering wheels, etc. It's great that companies are doing what they need to do to keep drivers safe though. Now, it's the Chevrolet Cruze that is jumping into the recall scene.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue was discovered during pre-production rear-impact barrier and rollover testing for the tire inflator-equipped 2019 Chevrolet Cruze LS. In one instance, the leak occurred upon contact of its vapor pressure sensor with the damaged rear floor panel.
Models affected include gas engine and tire inflator-equipped 2016, 2017, and 2018 Cruze LS.'
To remedy the issue, GM will be sending out notifications asking owners and dealers to go for an inspection and install a new fuel tank lock-ring free of charge. No word on when these notifications will be sent.
