Celebrate Conservation With a Glass of Boone & Crockett Club Whiskey

The Boone & Crockett Club has partnered with Prestige Imports to produce Boone & Crockett Club Whiskey as a way to honor the group's conservation heritage.

Named after Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone, Theodore Roosevelt founded the Boone & Crockett Club back in 1887 and it's now the oldest conservation group in North America. Committed to promoting conservation of wildlife and habitat, defending hunting and upholding the principle of fair chase, the club has had an important role in preserving the rich natural resources of the United States for future generations.

Prestige Imports LLC of Michigan recently partnered with the B&C Club to distribute the new line of Boone & Crockett Club whiskey, which is a great way of celebrating the heritage of the group along with the success of the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.

They currently distribute three different spirits under the Boone & Crockett name: American Blended Whiskey, Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Straight Rye Whiskey.

Straight Rye Whiskey

Handcrafted and aged for two years, Boone and Crockett Club Straight Rye Whiskey is 86 proof and advertised as having a:

Huge distinctive color; tastes of caramel, wild berries and sweet corn; superb velvety texture with a brilliantly balanced palate; finish is spicy outdoors with a "Camp Fire Smokey Finish."

Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Also 86 proof, handcrafted, and aged for two years, Boone and Crockett Club Straight Bourbon Whiskey great for those who enjoy a smooth bourbon taste. They bill their straight bourbon as:

Medium to dark amber color; smooth marzipan and tea nose; silky texture; smooth, rich with balanced spice and vanilla oak; extremely smooth at first and ends with a "Smokey Camp Fire Finish."

On the other hand, their 80-proof American Blended Whiskey is promoted as:

Rich copper color; tastes of buttery pecans, dried fruit and sweet jams; outstanding consistency and outdoorsy taste; wraps up with a peppercorn and "Camp Fire Smokey Finish."

While I can't personally comment on the Straight Rye or Straight Bourbon Whiskey, they sent me a free bottle of American Blended Whiskey to sample. My initial impression is that it's excellent whiskey and will taste even better around the campfire this fall after a long day of pursuing elk, mule deer or pronghorn.

The fact I'll be enjoying some American whiskey bearing the Boone & Crockett name after hunting on Bureau of Land Management and National Forest Service land more than 130 years after the club was originally founded really speaks volumes as to how successful the club has been in achieving its goals.

Regardless of whether you're hunting in Arizona, New York, Texas, Wyoming or somewhere else, consider buying a bottle or two as a way to enjoy the outdoors responsibly while supporting the Boone & Crockett Club as they continue to protect our hunting heritage.
