Residents of Alaska are used to seeing wildlife on the security cameras in their yard. It comes with the territory when you're living in the Last Frontier. Knowing this, Chance and Tyra Bogert weren't too surprised when a bull moose showed up on their Ring cam one evening just before Christmas. But as they watched the video, they got quite the surprise when the bull suddenly shook his head and both antlers came flying off!
The bull appears to have been quite surprised to have shed his crown so suddenly, as he quickly flees the scene and leaves his crown behind in the driveway. It's a cool video of something that isn't seen very often in nature, let alone captured on video for the whole world to see.
The video of this bull dropping his crown immediately went viral all over the internet, racking up millions of views in just a few days. According to the "Today Show," Tyra was watching the camera in real time as the incident unfolded outside her home. She was still stunned with what had just unfolded on the screen in front of her when Chance called from work to ask who had come to the door.
"And I'm like, 'Dude, you've got to watch it for yourself! You'll be so surprised. I don't want to ruin it,'" Tyra told "Today."
Another video posted online shows Chance picking up both sides and holding them up for the camera. Tyra's brother then encouraged her to share the videos to Facebook and TikTok because of the rarity of such an event. There are a few moose shedding videos on the internet. However, the videos we have seen have all been bulls losing a single side. It is possible that this is the first video ever captured of a bull losing both sides at the same time. One thing is for sure: It has made this past Christmas one that the Bogert family will not soon forget!
