Sudden Snowstorm Changes Hunter's Luck on Big New Mexico Bull Elk

The Hushin crew makes it happen in New Mexico.

In hunting, one of the biggest things you cannot control is the weather. It can be a bit frustrating when you plan a trip over a year in advance, only to get conditions you never planned on for the big hunt. In that case you have two options, you can either give up or adapt to the changing situation.

Casey of the Hushin crew is faced with just such a situation today. He's down in New Mexico, a destination spot for hunters looking to harvest a large bull elk. The first two days of the hunt are exceedingly hot when a sudden snowstorm rolls in and cover the mountains.

Undeterred, he decides to roll with the punches. The sudden weather shift ends up working out to his favor as it makes the elk easier to spot. Soon enough, he's putting in a perfect stalk and shot on a dandy of a bull.

Great shot Casey! That bull was on his bed and never got up again. At 360 yards, one cannot ask for more than that. These guys had to jump over a lot of hurdles in order to get this bull, but it all paid off in the end. Seeing Casey get emotional over this animal reminded us why we love Hushin's videos so much. These guys do an excellent job capturing the excitement of a hunt.

This bull had a ton of character that wasn't obvious until they were standing over it and were able to see all the sticker and cheater points everywhere. He may have had a few busted tines, but that just means he killed an old forest warrior of a bull. Who wouldn't be happy with an animal like that?

At the end of the day, the lesson here is to not get down on yourself too much while hunting. Because you never know when things are going to turn around for you. Congrats on the great bull Casey, enjoy the meals from that beast!
