Worn Out Buck Trying to Nap Avoids Persistent Doe

Bucks are apparently not the only ones on the prowl during the rut. Some does take it upon themselves to seek out a partner, and can actually be pretty persistent. A video uploaded by How To Hunt shows what happened when a buck tried to take a snooze but senses his female pursuer closing in.

We've all been there, trying to catch some shut-eye, when those around us just aren't getting the hint. The buck in this video has found the perfect bedding area to relax in, and he starts to drift off to dreamland, head slumping forward. The next clip shows him sniffing the area and resettling into the grass. However, the poor guy doesn't get a chance to go back to sleep.

He becomes fairly alert, his head swiveling from one side to another. The buck keeps an eye out for something he senses heading his way, and eventually he bugs out.

Not long after, a doe emerges, sniffing the spot where he was sleeping. She doesn't look too discouraged at his absence, though. It's almost as if missing him by such a narrow margin renews her effort. She takes off, sniffing the ground and following his trail.

The poor guy may have to go to great lengths to avoid this one! Commenters were pretty sympathetic to his plight. One wrote, "I've been there, but not for a while now." Another said, "Poor guy, hope he's ok." A few were worried about his mental health after all this. "That doe is driving him so crazy, he's off to run in front of a moving vehicle." Another got a great laugh out of the situation: "LOL...I need some peace, quiet, and rest. Uh-oh, here comes that honey-do list maker." But I think one commenter summed it up the best: "He never should have started flirting with her." Either way, you've got to feel for him!
