Bison Stampeding Down Road Manage to Break Car Window

Let's hope this guy has insurance!

In a freak incident where a herd of bison broke into an all-out stampede in Wyoming near Yellowstone National Park's Lamar Valley, a man and his family nearly found themselves in serious trouble.

Bruce Delle Chiaie, 50, saw no option but to stop his vehicle and start filming.

Perhaps he and his family assumed the animals would avoid the car, but he, his wife and their tree children quickly learned a bison stampede is entirely unpredictable.

One of the larger bison in the herd collided with the family's rental car and caused serious damage with its horns, even breaking the windshield.

They were originally driving through Lamar Valley hoping to spot a moose they saw previously, but surely didn't expect to find themselves screaming in pure panic.

Watch the video below:

What would you do in this situation? Would you try to turn around and retreat? Would you simply try to move your car to a safe place?

It's hard to put yourself in the Delle Chiaie family's position because how often does anyone find themselves in the middle of a bison stampede?

I honestly think I would've done the same thing in the spur of the moment. I think I would've just assumed they'd go around the cars, but clearly that would've been a mistake.

On the bright side, however, there's at least one positive we can take from this unfortunate series of events: no one tried to get out of the car.

Thank goodness we didn't see someone get run over! So often you see people getting way too comfortable with wildlife—particularly in Yellowstone—and it leading to serious injuries.

Hopefully this guy has good insurance!
