Bear Attacked Hunter After He Shot It Multiple Times

A man now faces serious injuries after his encounter with an enraged bear. The hunter in Japan decided to try to tackle the wild bear population, and it nearly cost him his life. During the encounter, the bear attacked the hunter after he shot the animal multiple times.

My, how the tables have turned. I am sure when the hunter left the house that morning, he never anticipated becoming the huntee. People Magazine shared some details surrounding the attack. Apparently, Japan has a wild bear population issue, and hunters are encouraged to seek them out.

There is even a "spring culling hunt" dedicated to the practice. So when one hunter set out in the wooded area in search of some brown bears, it probably seemed like a normal day. Well, the 69-year-old man did see a wild brown bear, but probably not in the way that he anticipated.

The outlet shared that the bear attacked the hunter after he and other hunters shot the animal multiple times. Apparently, another hunter shot the creature first, and then when this hunter approached it to shoot it again, the animal decided it had had enough.  "The animal reportedly rolled down a slope, then got back up and charged at the hunter."

During the attack, the bear scratched the man's head and face. Emergency personnel were able to safely transport him to the hospital, but he did suffer "significant facial and head injuries." As for the bear, it was later shot by more hunters and killed.

Some Disagree With This Event

While many probably agree with the "spring culling hunt" in an attempt to control the wild bear population, not everyone agrees. I, for one, know that I felt bad for the animal. While I am happy the hunter is okay and in no way enjoy that the bear attacked the hunter, I am not surprised.

The poor thing was shot, hurt, and startled. In an attempt to fight for its life, it tried to take out the source of the danger. I do not find the bear's actions to be strange at all. Hunters wandered into its home and opened fire on it. Apparently, I am not the only one who can see things from the bear's point of view. A comment left under People Magazine's article showed that at least one other person out there feels as I do.

This is what they had to say. "I don't believe in killing wild animals unless they are attacking. This one attacked because it was shot at. Poor Bear."
