Reuben bites might just be the new go-to recipe for duck hunters.
For a little while, Cabela's has been putting out a wide variety of wild-game recipes. Just about all of them are favorites any outdoorsman would love to cook. One of their most recent recipes, though, seems like something you'd find in a fancy restaurant as a $20 appetizer. These duck rueben bites are sure to be a hit.
While there are a lot of ingredients involved here, if you're prepared in advance, you shouldn't have any problems.
Bacon-Wrapped Duck Rueben Bites
- 3-4 wild duck breasts
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon pickling spices
- 4 teaspoon Kosher salt
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 12 strips thin-sliced bacon
- 1 cup sauerkraut
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
For all the step-by-step instructions for this recipe, you're going to have to check it out on the Cabela's page. There are 18 steps, so you better study up before taking this on. I know from experience the simple recipes can get out of hand quickly. Thankfully, there are still easy Chinese take-out recipes you can make when all else fails!
