Luxury automaker Aston Martin has issued a recall for 5,000 vehicles in the United States for transmission and battery cable issues.
In a late December announcement, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration cited a malfunctioning signal between the engine control and transmission control modules, affecting the transmission-locking park pawl in various models' six-speed Touchtronic II automatic transmissions.
As a result, the defect causes the vehicle to roll when parked at an incline without the parking brake activated. A second issue produces damage and a potential fire risk on battery supply cables, triggered when the driver's seat is in its fully rearward position.
Affected models include 2009 to 2019 DBS, DB9, Rapide, Vanquish and Virage models (approximately 3,490 vehicles) and 2005 to 2009 DBS and DB9 vehicles, with roughly 1950 vehicles affected. No deaths or injuries have been reported to date.
