When driving, a conventional holster can be very uncomfortable.
Alien Gear Holsters decided to try and come up with a solution.
We decided to take a closer look at the Alien Gear ShapeShift Driver Defense Holster.
When sitting in a vehicle with a seatbelt on, many concealed carriers find their holsters are hard to access. The ShapeShift System is a perfect way to secure a holstered pistol. They came up with a harness that straps across the bottom of your driver's seat with a ShapeShift Holster Mount attached to it. The video below shows how it works.
Alien Gear sent the Alien Gear ShapeShift Driver Defense Holster over to us for a thorough review. This system entails the Driver Defense Expansion Pack and a ShapeShift Shell of your choice. I used a Glock 17 pistol shell containing an thoroughly checked, unloaded Glock pistol. The holster mount was tested in a Jeep Compass. Below, you'll see the Driver Defense Expansion Pack mounted and ready for a ShapeShift Holster.
As you can see, the ShapeShift Holster can be quickly and easily mounted.
Fully mounted, the pistol is ready for action. The angle-of-carry position can be adjusted to your own preferences in a moment.
After testing out the Alien Gear ShapeShift Driver Defense Holster, I found the mount to be very sturdy. The straps themselves cinch down tight and are long enough for any vehicle seat encountered. The two detachable buckles will allow you to quickly remove the whole mount if needed.
Without the ShapeShift Holster mounted, the straps and Holster Mount are out of the way. With it mounted, I found the sitting position was still quite comfortable. The pistol was held securely and safely between my legs but quick to draw if necessary.
What I really like is there was no need to modify anything in the vehicle itself. And, it can come with you as the user changes vehicles. For the concealed carry citizen, this hybrid, all-American gun holster will certainly increase your speed when you need your handgun the most.
Remember Alien Gear's Forever Warranty, 30-Day Test Drive and great customer service make purchasing this pistol holster system simple and regret-free.
