It's heavily rumored that Adam Sandler films movies where he wants to go on vacation. So why not perform where you want to fish? That's what one country singer used to do anyway.
He admitted to booking early gigs based around where he wanted to go fishing. Speaking with the crew on the Whiskey Riff Raff podcast, country singer Leon Majcen reflected on his career and aspirations. Talk turned to his early career when he would drive from bar gig to bar gig in his car.
He told the outlet, "I do kind of miss the early days of me touring. I was pretty much just booking shows around places that I wanted to fish. It was just me and my truck. It was like bar gigs. I was still booking myself. I knew I wanted to fish this spot, this spot and this spot. So I'd just book these bars in those towns and sleep in the back of my car and fish when I wasn't playing. Those days were really simple, and I do kind of miss touring that way."
It was a simple life that the country singer admittedly misses. Now, booking gigs and touring his a bit more complicated. He can't just play wherever he wants to fish. The horror, I know. But he does use fishing to help inspire him during the songwriting process. So there's that.
"Sometimes (songwriting works) going fishing... fishing for me, especially fishing alone. I just like going out to the Caney, and just being out there and wading through the water. You'll hum stuff to yourself," he said.
It's just proof that sometimes you can take the boy out of the pond, but you can't take the pond out of the boy. The country singer also said he wants to perform well enough that his parents can retire. He explained, "My parents never really got to pick what they wanted to do. Especially after they came to the states. They just had to take whatever job they could. If I could give back to my parents somehow, just make their life a little bit easier, I'd count that as a win."
