Washington Hikers Save Critically Injured Woman After Following Trail of Blood

Washington hikers were having a normal day out on a trail when they noticed a trail of blood. Rather than running away, the two decided to follow the trail of blood. By doing so, they saved a woman's life, who was critically injured in a solo hike.

Jacque Tietijen is lucky to be alive after going hiking in Bridal Veil Falls in Washington by herself. The hiker suffered a cracked skull and significant head injury while out on the trail, according to KSL TV. Fortunately for Tietijen, two hikers stumbled across a trail of blood. They found the woman laying at the bottom of a slope.

Her sister-in-law, Katherine Tietijen, praised the two for saving her.

Trail of Blood Leads To Hiker

"They took care of her, wrapped their coats around her, tried to get her body temperature up," Katherine told the local publication. From there, first responders arrived and airlifted her to Utah Valley Hospital. She's still in critical condition with multiple brain bleeds and skull fractures. She'll be intubated for several days.

"If it starts to swell too much, they will have to do emergency surgery and take a piece out of her skull to give the brain space to expand," Katherine explained.

Katherin is thankful the two hikers were there that day or her sister-in-law would be dead right now.

"The fact that they not just noticed that, but had the inclination to follow [Jacque's blood] and to investigate, that potentially has saved her life. Our family is so grateful. There are no words to how grateful we are to those men," Katherine told the outlet."We know she will fight with everything she has to be able to return to her family and all the things she loves."

The hiker has a long road of recovery ahead. We are wishing her the best.
