A 16-year-old has gone viral thanks to her opossum catching skills. Her parents were surprised when the teen brought the animal home one night.
Speaking with People, Brittanii Lehman says her 16-year-old daughter Talia has regularly come home with different animals. One night, she brought a live opossum into their house.
"Opossums come into our garage nearly every night and steal our cat's food. This night, it was around 10 p.m., Talia saw one sleeping on the shelf on a storage tub," she told the outlet. "She decided to catch it and bring it into the house to show us."
Taking to TikTok and amassing more than 5 million views, Lehman asked, "Anyone else's teenage daughter bring a opossum into your room 10:00 at night?!? No...just me...ok?"

"She does catch opossums often in our garage, and then she and my husband, Brandon, take them a couple miles from our house to release them," she says. "They are good creatures, but they make messes in our garage and try to get Talia's chickens that we have in the backyard."
But even so, she still can't get over the shock of the scene. It "just looked so funny to see her standing there holding him like that."
Fortunately, no opossums were hurt in the making of this story. According to Lehman, her daughter "has such a big love for animals." After catching the critter, she released it away from the house.
Talia catches the animals to keep them away from her chickens.
"Even though the opossums have killed four or five of her chickens, she would never hurt any opossum that she catches," Lehman shares. "She always catches them and then releases them one to two miles from our house in the woods."
