Video Footage Shows Houston-Area Deer Battling Hurricane Floodwaters

Animals are struggling to find dry ground as floodwaters continue to rise.

Hurricane Harvey has caused catastrophic flooding across southeastern Texas, leaving in its wake destruction the likes of which has never been seen before. In addition to the toll on human lives, animals are fighting to survive as well, many struggling to find dry land without drowning.

The following footage, shot by Rodeo River Ranch, shows what one herd of resident deer are facing as floodwaters rise. Although these deer are good swimmers, eventually exhaustion will set in, and we can only cross our fingers and hope that this group somehow managed to make it to safety.

Here's the grim reality of Hurricane Harvey:

It's unimaginable to think the toll this hurricane is causing to southeastern Texas. The human side of suffering we have seen on television and across the Internet. The animal side, not so much. Either way, things don't look good.
