Record Breaking Bluefin Tuna Caught Off the San Clemente Coast

This massive bluefin tuna just set a new record.

CBS8 recently reported that anglers off the coast of San Clemente reeled in what is thought to be the new West Coast record bluefin tuna on rod and reel! This massive fish weighed in at an astonishing 345.5 pounds and shattered the previous record by nearly 100 pounds!

The angler, Joe Roder, is calling this a "once in a lifetime fish."

The anglers reportedly took close to two full hours to land the fish once it was hooked.

"We could not be more stoked on the results that we ended up with this massive 345-pound bluefin tuna caught on 130-pound test," said Robert Gray, the captain onboard Ranger 85 Sportfishing. "Fish of a lifetime, for sure."
