Man Outruns Two Black Bears

Bears would give me an incentive to run too.

Professional runner Marube Maninda was just out for a morning run when he was given a reason to, well, really run. About halfway through his exercise, he was charged by two black bears. He recaps his experience in the video below from Sun Journal.

That's a lot of luck to avoid those bears. There was nothing in that screened-in porch to stop a bear if they really wanted to get in. Adding onto that he was able to outrun two bears, which are able to  run at 34mph while an average human can normally only run at 28 mph.

A very important thing to note from this video is that climbing a tree is not a good option. Contrary to popular belief, even adult black bears can climb trees. Your best action is to stand tall and make a lot of noise. Best-case scenario: keep bear spray or a firearm on you.
