Watch: Orca Sneaks Through Wave to Eat Sea Lion

Although a lot has to do with the angle, this video feels a bit terrifying. As you watch two sea lions lounging in the water near the shore, out of nowhere a giant orca whale swims through a wave and beaches itself just to devour one of the creatures.

According to the video's caption, the incident happened on March 29 at Punta Norte, which is in Coastal Patagonia, Argentina. "Everything in front of the public audience of #puntanorte for the enjoyment of more than 500 viewers," the caption reads.

Of course, there's no way to tell when exactly it occurred as Punta Norte appears to be a popular spot for orcas to hunt sea lions.

According to the Patagonia Project, which offers nature and wildlife expeditions in the area, killer whales have a 50% success rate of hunting sea lions by beaching themselves whereas they have a 20% chance of success out in open water. At least, they do between February and April

The reason why is in that three-month timeframe the shallow surf serves as a sort of nursery for baby sea lions. While they're busy learning to swim and having fun, they're also unaware of the danger lurking in the waters.
