Fly Fishing Marlin on the FADs in Costa Rica

When it comes to fly fishing for marlin in Costa Rica, anything can happen!

Costa Rica has long been known as an epic billfishing destination. During a recent trip to fish the FADs 80 miles off the central Pacific Coast, we landed a nice striped marlin and broke off several other fish. This is truly what fly fishing marlin in Costa Rica is all about!

Here is a video of the our day on the water! This will give you a good idea of what an average day at the FADs is like.

Take a look:

As you can see, when a few good friends get on a boat, the excitement goes through the roof! My good friend Justin DeBoom from Caribsea Sportfishing was kind enough to take all of us out for the day to focus on landing these fish on fly. My other friends Benn Gilmour from Jackpot Sport Fishing and Mark Evans from Stone Mountain Outdoors joined us as well.

Although Justin was the only one to land a fish, Benn and I did manage to feed fish. However, broken leaders had us going home empty-handed!

If you're interested in coming down to get in on the action, be sure to shoot me and email at [email protected] and we will get you set up!
