Video: Can You Catch Fish Using Seaweed as Bait?

This can't actually work, can it?

Most anglers think of any type of seaweed as simply an annoyance that must be cleaned from your hooks every now and then.

But, BlacktipH and the Fish Whisperer were observant of their surroundings when they noticed the parrotfish were actually eating a type of seaweed called sargassum.

It sounds weird and ridiculous, but they decided to try using it as bait. The results are undeniable.

It probably felt pretty silly the first time they attached seaweed to their hooks, but you can't argue with the results. The topwater strikes made this a pretty exciting way to fish! Who would have thought?

The real lesson to take away here for anglers is to always be observant of your surroundings.  You just never know when nature is going to give you a clue that could turn into a dynamite fishing tactic!
