Video: Can a Bass Track its Prey Above the Water's Surface?

Once again, the Fish Whisperer uses his pet bass to showcase a bass feeding technique. Watch these fish target thrown shad before they even hit the water.

Did you ever wonder if bass could track potential prey moving above the surface of the water like birds or jumping fish?

Well, wonder no more, because the Fish Whisperer has the answer in this video and it's a resounding yes!

I never get tired of these fish-feeding videos the Fish Whisperer puts out. There's so much you can learn from watching their behavior.

This reminds me of those slow-motion videos of great white sharks breaching to take down prey. This video just goes to show how good the eyesight of a bass really is. On several of those throws, the bass perfectly tracked the shad to make the snag just as it hit the water. They really are elite predators.

This information can be helpful in your fishing, too. It shows the importance of using the right line and a stealthy approach in clearer waters. If the bass can see your lure flying through the air, they can probably also see you casting it if you aren't careful!
