The Most Ridiculous Pistol Magazine Ever, the Nomar 1911 Magazine-Stock

Ever wish your Model 1911 Pistol held more ammo?

Well, they did back years ago, too, as this weird magazine-stock proves.

Forgotten Weapons checks out the downright strange Nomar 1911 Magazine-Stock.

High capacity magazines are all the rage now. Is the standard 7 round magazine for the Model 1911 .45 Pistol not carry enough cartridges? Well that thought was even way back in 1936 by an inventor named Lewis Nomar.

With thoughts of trench warfare in World War One this 40 shot magazine also was meant to be tucked under the arm as a sort of shoulder stock. For trench raiding that would have come in handy. That was for an old war which was long obsolete. His invention was a failure with only two ever made.

Special thanks to Ian from Forgotten Weapons for finding this extremely odd magazine-stock invention. What an interesting design that was just a step in firearms history which was ultimately a dead end.
