Steakhouse Treats Terminally Ill Dog To 5-Star Final Meal

A steakhouse helped a terminally ill dog have one last moment of joy. The Virginia-based establishment treated the critically ill pooch to a five star final meal.

Perry's Steakhouse helped celebrate the life of Emmie, a golden retriever who had a terminal illness. The poor animal had blood cancer and was just give months to live.

"We were just completely devastated," said Kelly Blumenthal, per local outlet 12 On Your Side. "At the same time, we looked at Emmie and said, 'She is so blessed that she has no idea what's going on.' She's young and can do things. Let's make these last few months the best of her entire life."

Steakhouse Honors Dog

"What dog doesn't want a steak?" Blumenthal recalled. She called the steakhouse and got hold of manager Jesus Martinez. Martinez was happy to accommodate the family during their time of need.

"They truly rolled out the red carpet for her," Emmie's owner told the outlet. The steakhouse staff gave the dog an honor walk in and out of the restaurant and a special outdoor space with sparkling water.

"They gave her a bone with the marrow in it, a steak," Kelly continued. "Although she didn't have the energy to eat that, we were able to take some of it and put it under her gums and her tongue, so that was the last thing she tasted."

So a kind deed shines in a cruel world. The sight of the sick dog brought some of the staff to tears. After Emmie passed away, Kelly gifted an imprint of her paws to the restaurant for their good deed. Sadly, the golden retriever died later that night at her home. The dog passed away peacefully with her family at her side.

"She had happy memories," Kelly told 12 On Your Side. "She not once that day felt fear, she not once felt sadness."
