A 51-year-old hunter was airlifted to the hospital with severe head trauma.
Robert Meilhammer, of Crapo, took the full force of the goose, which fell from 90 feet up in the air. Police estimated it to weigh 10-14 pounds.
The goose knocked him unconscious and caused both head and facial injuries. He also lost two teeth.
An ambulance rushed Meilhammer to the Easton Airport, where he was transported by air to a shock trauma unit in Baltimore. His injuries have been described as serious.
The Maryland Natural Resources Police sent out the following tweet with an update on Meilhammer's condition Feb. 2:
Injured goose hunter ID: Robert C. Meilhammer, 51, of Crapo (Dorchester County). He is in stable condition at Maryland Shock Trauma, awaiting additional tests.
