Shed Antler Art Creations That Caught Our Eye

shed antler art

Ever since we saw an example of shed antler art, we've been hooked by its beauty.

Over the years, creating aesthetically pleasing showpieces from shed antlers has become an outdoor-based form of artistic talent. It's not enough to just find them, now people are putting them to good use, be it decorative, functional, or a combo of the two.

Whether they're from a whitetail deer, mule deer, elk, moose, or other antlered animal, they all hold the potential to be made into truly artistic outdoor creations made by some really talented people.

Shed antler art can take the form of chandeliers, Christmas trees, dream catchers, and even legs for a coffee table. It seems like there is no end to the possibilities and artsy folks everywhere seem to continually come up with new ideas.

Let's take a look at some of the best versions of this outdoor creativity we've found and see if we can come up with a few ideas of our own. Until then, we can drool over these and be glad that these folks like to share.

Elk Antler Art

Many of us have a reverence for these magnificent animals, and doing the hard work of collecting their antlers in the early spring can be extremely fruitful. Using shed elk antlers is one of the best ways to honor and respect them while making a home office, man cave, or dining room look incredible.

Here are some fine examples we tracked down.

This is an example of the antler mounting kits that have grown in popularity lately, where the skull is actually fake and made of plastic, but serves as part of the mount that holds the shed antlers.

Moose Antler Art

There are those that say moose sheds are one of the most difficult to find, and others that seem to find them regularly. Moose antlers have the most palmation of any of the deer family, even the young bulls, and those who are fortunate enough to find them that have some background in the arts make some amazing things out of them.

Granted, some of these moose examples are full skulls and not actual sheds, but we've lumped them together anyway.

Whitetail Deer Antler Art

Without a doubt, the whitetail deer is the most popular animal we hunt and whose sheds we try endlessly to find.

These animals are a beloved quarry; we learn everything we can about them, watch them breed and raise their fawns throughout the summer months, and hope for continued herd health and prosperity.

We spend our money on all kinds of deer hunting gear, scout their favorite haunts, set up over them, and then watch them until our eyes begin to blur.

Shed whitetail antlers and the art made from them hold a special place in our hearts and minds. Here are some great examples.

Why We Love Real Antlers

There's something about deer shed antlers that we love, but it's hard to put your finger on it. When we find large antlers, unique antlers, and even broken tines or snapped off points, it gives us a feeling of accomplishment and joy that almost can't be explained.

Those who make antler chandeliers, display their European mounts, and create antler lighting implements like antler lamps know something about antler decor. They're like interior designers searching for that perfect grade A antler piece.

High quality wall art made from our favorite wild game antlers have a special place in our hearts. Making wall decor from antler sheds that we've found is a way to bring an outdoor-centric centerpiece into the home decor strategy.

North America loves a piece of outdoor authenticity, and larger antlers will always serve a good purpose when dedicated to artistic pieces.
