Sharknado is Real... at Least in Australia

Nothing to see here. Oh wait. Is that a shark over there?!

Like a scene eerily similar to the plot theme from the movie Sharknado, a bull shark has been discovered stranded in receding floodwaters as Australia was hit hard by a devastating cyclone. The three-foot shark, which was dead when found, was an unusual sight amongst the toppled trees, ripped roofs, and water-drenched land.

Paramedic Lisa Smith came across the shark on March 30 while accessing flood levels, two days after the cyclone hit land. It was found on Rita Island, which is near the town of Ayr in Queensland state.

How the bull shark ended up here is a bit of a mystery, but chances are it simply became stranded once floodwaters receded. More than likely this happened as it followed prey.

Perhaps Sharknado wasn't such a stretch after all?
