Savage Package Guns

Savage XP Guns Get Expansion and Upgrades for 2019

The new Savage XP (extra accessory package) guns are supplying shooters with exactly what they need with one single purchase.

Years ago, Savage simplified hunting and shooting with the introduction of their "extra accessory package" guns—or "XP" for short. Including appropriately-sized, pre-mounted and bore-sighted scopes with each rifle allows customers to take their new rifle from the box directly to the range or the field.

And, perhaps most importantly, Savage XP rifle packages are a great way to save money. They can cost far less than the buying rifle, mounting hardware, and optic separately. Plus, you don't ever have to worry about getting stuck with cheap rifles if you're going with a Savage. Shooters can expect to pay as little as $100 more for an XP package rifle with a quality scope, compared to buying same gun un-scoped.

This makes Savage XPs one of the best bargains in the entire firearm industry.

"We're working to provide the most convenient, simple, reliable and trusted rifle options available anywhere," said Al Kasper, President of Savage. "Our easy-to-use XP package guns offer the absolute best value for shooters and hunters."

The Existing XP Lineup

In 2018 Savage offered 62 different XP package guns, including the Model 64 blowback-operated .22 semiauto rifle, a great plinking and small game gun that comes equipped with a 4x by 15mm scope and carries an MSRP of just $188. Other rimfire options include the bolt-action Mark II and Model 93s.

The Rascal rimfire single shot is now available as an XP package rifle and comes equipped with a scope and bipod. It's the perfect setup for small-statured shooters. Savage's game-changing A17, the first successfully commercial semiauto .17 HMR rifle, is also available as an XP package gun.

The Mark II, Model 93, Rascal, and A17 all come standard with Savage's revolutionary bladed AccuTrigger, which set a new standard for safety among user-adjustable factory rifle triggers.

"Savage has become the leader in rimfire rifle packages," said Kasper. "We offer an expansive lineup of rimfire that not only offer a long list of safety and accuracy-enhancing features but also cost less than competing models."

In addition to rimfire XP package guns, Savage also offers the widest array of centerfire bolt-action combo rifles available. The affordable AXIS II XP line of rifles come equipped with an AccuTrigger and a pre-mounted and bore-sighted Bushnell Banner 3-9 by 40mm scope. Accuracy potential is exceptional thanks to Savage's ingenious headspacing method in which a headspace gauge is placed into the receiver. The barrel is threaded into the receiver and a lock nut secures the barrel against the recoil lug for perfect headspacing.

AXIS II XP combos feature Savage's floating bolt head design. The head and body of the bolt are two separate pieces and the resulting "float" allows for perfect lug engagement and cartridge engagement. Precision-rifled barrels come standard, offer the best concentricity, and are hand-straightened.

These factors combine to make the AXIS rifle one of the most accurate out of the box—and the Savage AXIS II XP package one of the best values in hunting rifles.

Savage also upgraded the AXIS II stock, giving it a more ergonomic profile. There's a compact AXIS II XP Package as well as a walnut-stock version and a stainless model with caliber options ranging from .223 Rem. to .30-06 Sprg.

"AXIS II XP package guns offer unbeatable value," said Kasper. "These guns are exceptionally accurate and affordable and the stylish new stock is designed for maximum comfort and flexibility."

Savage's flagship Model 110 bolt action rifles are also available as XP combos. The popular Trophy Hunter XP line includes both right and left-handed models with Nikon scopes and options for walnut or synthetic stocks and blued or stainless metalwork. Compact versions are offered for small-statured shooters. With caliber options ranging from .204 Ruger to .338 Win. Mag., there's a Trophy Hunter model suitable for any small or big game hunting, at short or long ranges.

Savage also offers the new 110 XP variants for 2018 with a Bushnell Engage 3-9 by 40mm optic with a drop-compensated reticle. The 110 Engage XP comes with customizable length of pull stock adjustments, and like other 110 XP package guns, it features a floating bolt head, precision barrel, detachable box magazines and Savage AccuTrigger.

"The Model 110 has become the standard for affordable bolt-action hunting rifles," said Kasper, "and by offering XP packages we make these guns an even better value."

New or Improved XPs for 2019

Savage is adding to their already extensive line of XP package firearms in 2019. The new 110 Apex Predator XP comes equipped with a Vortex Crossfire II 4-12 by 44mm scope with Dead-Hold BDC reticle, a heavy threaded barrel, and Mossy Oak camo stock. It's available in .223 Remington, .204 Ruger, .22-250, and more.

The new 110 Apex Hunter XP comes with a black synthetic stock, sporter barrel, and a 3-9x40mm Vortex Crossfire II scope with Dead-Hold BDC reticle found on the Apex Predator XP. The 110 Apex Hunter XP package is available in both left and right-handed versions as well as a Muddy Girl camo version with several caliber options, ranging from .204 Ruger to .338 Win Mag.

The new 110 Apex Storm XP also comes with a 3-9x40mm Vortex scope with Dead-Hold reticle. It features stainless steel metalwork for hunting in the most unforgiving conditions. All 110 Apex XP rifles come standard with length of pull adjustments, detachable box magazines, AccuTriggers, and the other high-end features found on previous 110 XP package guns.

For 2019, all of the Savage AXIS XP package guns have been upgraded with the newly-redesigned, stylish, ergonomic synthetic stock with length of pull adjustments. Both the AXIS XP and AXIS Camo XP versions are available with compact stocks. There's also an AXIS XP Camo Compact Muddy Girl camo version available.

AXIS XP rifles come equipped with 3-9 by 40mm Weaver scopes mounted and bore-sighted. Though they don't come with AccuTriggers, these guns are still an excellent value with a starting MSRP of just $415.

"Last year, we upgraded the AXIS II XP product line, which are models that include the AccuTrigger, by changing to a more modernized stock. It was a success as we received many outstanding responses from our dealers and customers," said Kasper. "This year, we are answering their requests to also upgrade the base-model AXIS firearm lineup with that same stylish and ergonomic stock."

Package Gun Pride

Savage has made it easier than ever for hunters to take a rifle from the box to the box blind. There's a Savage XP combo that's sure to work well for any shooter regardless of the target, the terrain, or budget.

"We're proud to offer XP package rifles because they prove that you don't have to spend a lot of money to own a dependable, precision-built hunting rifle," said Kasper. "You simply won't find a better value than the AXIS XP combo rifles, and the new stock improves handling and allows for rapid length of pull adjustments so you can customize each rifle to the individual shooter."
