Safari Club International Cancels 2021 Convention in Las Vegas

Safari Club International just announced that they're canceling their 2021 convention in Las Vegas. Here's why.

Though it was scheduled to return to Vegas next year, Safari Club International just announced that they're cancelling the 2021 convention due to COVID-19.

SCI has conducted their annual Hunters' Convention for the past 49 years. Usually held in Las Vegas, the convention was held at the Sparks Convention Center in Reno during 2019 and 2020.

The 2020 convention took place February 5-8 and was among the last big outdoor conventions to take place before government agencies started implementing regulations on large gatherings of people in response to the spread of COVID-19.

Leaders within SCI were hoping that they'd be able to conduct the 2021 convention as planned. However, they ultimately decided that they would not be able to conduct a successful convention due to restrictions imposed by both the state of Nevada and the city of Las Vegas.

Watch the video below to hear exactly what SCI had to say about the decision to cancel their 2021 convention.

The annual convention is one of the biggest gathering of international hunting exhibitors, and is typically viewed by the Club as a successful event for both sportsmen and the organizations that support them.

The Safari Club International Convention is a true celebration of our hunting heritage, and one of the best gatherings of the year for not just hunting, but the greater good of wildlife conservation.

Safari Club International is still planning on conducting the 2022 convention as scheduled 19-22 January 2022 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada.

With a little bit of luck and a better handle of the global pandemic, the overall situation in the world will have improved to the point that the 2022 convention should be able to take place.
