Review of DeerCast by Drury Outdoors

A new hunting app built specifically for whitetail hunters is now available.

The Drury team has started a new chapter in the world of whitetails by releasing a unique app this week. The app made waves in the Apple Store charts, too, reaching 27th in the entertainment chart. The app comprises a lot of unique features that'll help many hunters this upcoming fall.

Drury Outdoors has launched a new app for whitetail deer hunters that could change how people consume hunting content and watch the weather. DeerCast is an app Mark and Terry Drury, and with the help of their team, have built to help predict deer movement using weather variables based on hunters' precise location.

Let's take a look at what it offers:

Home

The news feed is the home icon that features curated content by the Drury Outdoor team along with a snapshot of the weather. They update the news feed a handful times a day with some semi-live updates and articles created by their team.

DeerCast

The next icon features the DeerCast logo and gives a more in-depth look at the upcoming weather and helps predict potential deer movement.

In my opinion, this is the core of the app, as it gives giving local weather information and the advice changes based on the different 13 phases.

Below the weather update, it showcases nine different videos discussing the role the weather variables play into their algorithm-driven deer movement predictions. It's phase-specific, creating up-to-date advice. It's fair to say this level of live information has never been available in such a nicely packaged way.

DOD

In addition to the resources for weather, they have a vast video library built right into the DeerCast app.  They have plenty of DODTV content and actual hunts from previous seasons. Their hunts include from many of their old DVDS and hunts. They have an additional icon on the bottom that highlights curated content for Mossy Oak. Between the two, there's hours of content to be consumed by hunters alike.

They have over 30,000 downloads, according to one of their posts in the app.

The app is available in the Apple App Store and Android's Google Play.

At the end of the day, this hunting app has found its way into one of the best apps available for whitetail hunting. Drury Outdoors has always been a pioneer in the outdoor industry, propelling themselves decades ahead in almost every category. This app follows their trend of success.

The only drawback I've run into while using the app is the push notifications. They go off every time they post something. This is something you can easily turn off, so it's not a big deal.

It'll be interesting to see how they update the app over the course of the season. There's no question, this information carries weight given the track record of the Drury Outdoor team. I remember first hearing most of these weather concepts on Wired to Hunt when Mark was guest. I had a notepad out and used the weather in my decision making. Now it just got a lot easier!
