Alligator Fritters Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound alligator fillets, finely chopped
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1½ cups hush puppy mix
  • Oil, for frying

Cajun Ranch Ingredients

  • ½ cup ranch dressing
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Recipe Directions

1. Finely chop alligator.
2. In a large bowl, combine buttermilk and seasoning. Then add alligator pieces. Let stand 20 minutes.
3. While the alligator is standing, mix together the ingredients for the Cajun ranch dressing in a small bowl and set in the fridge until you're ready to serve.
4. Once the 20 minutes is up, stir hush puppy mix into the alligator until combined.
5. Preheat deep fryer to 350 F (or heat oil in Dutch oven on medium-high until 350 F). Form 1-inch alligator scoops and carefully drop into oil (in batches). Cook at 165 F for 3-4 minutes or until golden. Drain on paper towels. Serve with Cajun ranch dressing.
