Sometimes it may just be better to go to the gym. One Ohio runner found that out the hard way. She got frostbite formed on ears ater running in -8 degree weather.

But when life gives you lemons make lemonade. The very brave if foolish runner posted about it on TikTok and went viral as a result. Runner Olivia Eckels documented her run on the social media platform. She went on a "35-minute easy recovery run" in -8 degree weather. Temperatures were screaming for people to stay inside.

But still she braved the cold. She shared with followers, "In case you didn't know, this is what running in Ohio looks like right now."

The video read, "Watch me progressively get first degree frostbite while on a 3 mile run in -8 degree." The Ohio runner says that she "definitely learned my lesson." By the end of her run, she had ice on her ears, lips, and eyebrows. Due to the run, she had to wear earmuffs afterwards. She explained, "When you have to wear earmuffs everywhere because you got frostbite when on a run."

The Ohio runner confirmed doctors diagnosed her with first-degree frostbite on both ears.

"I did go to urgent care on Sunday morning just to make sure everything was okay, and they did confirm first-degree frostbite on both my ears," she said. "They said there's really nothing that can be done. They just will go away on their own."

She added, "It's like two-thirds of my ear that got frostbite."

The runner also addressed concerns from her followers.

"Some people are being nice and asking if I'm okay, but a lot of people are roasting me," she said. "Which, honestly, I get it. I realize now how stupid of a move it was... This is my PSA to anyone wanting to run outside.  Definitely wear some ear coverings."
