Officials Are Shocked After A Wolf Attacked A Woman In Busy Shopping Center

Officials and witnesses were shocked after witnessing a surprising attack. Although wolves are known to be dangerous predators, humans do not typically fall victim to them. However, a wolf attacked a woman in a busy shopping center in Germany and left everyone terrified and confused. Officials are looking into the incident as it is the first attack of its kind since wolves returned to Germany nearly three decades ago.

People Magazine shared some details about the shocking encounter. According to the outlet, the woman was just going about her day on Grosee Bergstrasse, which is a main shopping center in the German city. However, while enjoying her shopping, she was stunned to notice a wolf stumble into her path. Typically, wolves and other wild animals avoid places bustling with human activity.

The German outlet NDR shared that the wolf "appeared disoriented and had repeatedly run into a glass window." Rather than giving this wild animal its space, this woman attempted to show kindness to the animal and help it. The outlet shared that her goal was to "lead the wolf away from the busy area." Unfortunatley for the woman, the wolf seemed to miss that memo.

Frightened, the wolf attacked the woman. People Magazine shared that it bit the woman's face and then fled the area. The woman first received medical attention at the scene of the attack. Later, she was taken to the hospital and received care, including stitches.  She has since been discharged.

Where Is The Wolf Now?

After the attack, officials were set on capturing this wolf. Originally, it was located near Lake Binnenalster, according to People Magazine. Although police were able to "hoist the wolf from the water with a rope," it managed to escape onto land and run off once again. An hour later, the creature was finally captured. The outlet shared that "the wolf has since been transported to Klövensteen Wildlife Park."

Furthermore, once the wolf is given a clean bill of health, officials hope to return it to the wilderness. Although everyone is happy that both the woman and wolf seem to be faring all right, there is still the question of what provoked the attack. After all, this is the first encounter of its kind since the wolf was reintroduced nearly 30 years ago.

Regardless of the reason, I am sure watching a woman be attacked by a wolf is not something that the official, the victim, or any witnesses are soon to forget.
