Oftentimes, people choose their vacation spots based on the hype they have seen about it. This is particularly true with social media outlets like Instagram and TikTok, which always show the highlights of specific destinations. The one caveat there is that social media typically only focuses on the best parts of places, and often does not show the worst. Now, after a new global analysis, this American hotspot has been ranked as the worst tourist destination.
What Is The Worst Tourist Destination?

The NY Post shared details from this global analysis. According to the outlet, "Stasher, a travel company specializing in luggage storage, released the findings based on Google Reviews ratings, TikTok engagement, airport accessibility, country safety, and local accommodation quality." Based on all of that data, this American hotspot came back as the worst tourist destination.
Any guesses? It is the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. While the thought of walking amongst the stars and seeing your favorite celebrity may be appealing to some, there is a lot about the destination that is not. It seems that the over 2,800 stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the proximity to celebrities are no longer enough to make people overlook the less-than-stellar aspects of this destination.
What Makes It So Bad?
According to the data collected, there are several factors that contribute to the Hollywood Walk of Fame being the worst tourist destination. Analysts shared that, "this sidewalk of celebrity stars had the lowest Google rating and safety score." If people don't feel safe, it is definitely not a place they will want to visit.
Additionally, this hotspot only received a 3.4 out of 5 stars on TripAdvisor. That ranking placed it lower, number 64, on the must-do list for anyone visiting Los Angeles. Furthermore, many visitors had negative complaints when writing their reviews of this destination on TripAdvisor. The Post shared some of those complaints.
One person shared that the area was "run down, dirty, and full of shady figures." Additionally, they shared that while celebrities were sparse in the area, there were "plenty of homeless people." So, the lack of safety and cleanliness led this person and their family to quickly flee the area. Another visitor agreed with the first sentiments, complaining that the location was "definitely not what I expected based on TV and movies."
Furthermore, they agreed that the entire area felt unsafe and they "wouldn't recommend taking young children." With all of that in mind, honestly, I am not surprised that this location earned the title of worst tourist destination.
