You Never Know What You’ll Find Swimming in the Gulf of Mexico

Fishing guide 'Smiley' Yanez saved a lost raccoon in the bay off the coast of Texas.

Captain Ismael Yanez was fishing in the bay somewhere near Rio Hondo, Texas, when he came across an unlikely swimmer that needed a lift.

Upon realizing what it was, the incredulous charter captain got the video rolling. A raccoon was swimming in the middle of nowhere!

At one point early in the video, you can see the animal in a sitting position trying to rest, showing just how shallow some of those waters are.

Luckily for that raccoon, it came across one gentle and caring man in Captain Smiley.
