Monkey Straight Out of A Sitcom Terrorizes Home Owner

A monkey straight out of a sitcom like Friends recently terrorized a homeowner in Missouri. It was a good bit of monkey business. A wildlife trapper was surprised to come across the exotic animal.

But not as probably surprised as the homeowner. According to KSDK, a woman in Jefferson County called about a capuchin monkey inside her garage. Not knowing what to do, she called emergency services.

"It looks like the one from Friends, I am not kidding you," the homeowner told an emergency dispatcher. She, of course, referenced the iconic monkey from the popular sitcom.

Meanwhile, Imperial-based Wildlife Command Center owner Michael Beran was doubtful it was a real primate. Apparently, he's dealt with a lot of false calls.

Monkey Reunited

"Look, I get calls about monkeys all the time," Beran told the outlet. "'I just saw a monkey in Forest Park, I just saw a monkey in my apartment,' so when I got the call there's a monkey in the garage, I was like yeah, right."

But for the first time in his career, it was actually a reall monkey.

"For the first time in 60 years, it was actually a monkey," he recalled. Both the wildlife trapper and the creature scared each other. Beran startled the little primate. But he quickly got things under control.

"It was easy for me to get my hands on the monkey," Beran explained. "You just kind of control them in a way they don't feel threatened, and I was able to get it into a carrier safely."

After capturing the monkey, the wildlife trapper learned that someone lost their primate. Fortunately, the owner had all the proper paperwork and had also microchipped the animal. Soon, the two were reunited. Exactly, how they animal escaped remains a bit of a mystery. But at least this story had a happy ending.
