Mastering the Grip, Draw and Fire of America's Classic 1911 Pistol

This is all about mastering the grip, draw and fire of America's classic 1911 pistol. If you carry one, this is a must-watch tutorial.

Springfield Armory with Rob Leatham and Rob Pincus teach the right way to grip, draw and fire this classic American-made firearm.

This is the right way to get a 1911 out of its holster and into action in the quickest and most efficient manner for accurate rounds on target. And the way they are training is the best way to become proficient.

Begin by practicing the draw and present dry then work into live fire on the range. A great way to do this once live is to draw and fire one or two rounds, then reset and do it again. Combine this with tactical drills, such as a scan and breathe, and you will be building muscle memory and combining with sound mechanics and good combat techniques.

While the 1911 is not everyone's choice for a EDC gun, it is still a sound performer and as long as you train hard and under appropriate supervision, it can be the right choice for you.
