High-speed police chases are hard to ignore. But have you ever seen one involving a horse?
Back in 2018, a horse decided to take a jaunt down a Florida highway and didn't seem to care at all that a police officer was in hot pursuit.
The horse was first spotted just before 8:00 a.m. as he trotted along Highway US 19. A deputy attempted to convince the horse to stop and get off the road, though judging from this video, she didn't have much success. She called in the Agricultural Unit for help, explaining that they were "traveling at one horse power."
Take a look as the deputy tries to convince the loose horse to pull over.
The story does have a happy ending, though — Deputies were able to direct the horse off of the highway and into a quieter subdivision. Deputies finally got the horse to stop, and he was uninjured. His owners were located, and the horse was reunited with them.
If you ever see a loose horse, please don't attempt to pursue it with a car. Chasing a horse will usually only prompt it to keep running, or to run faster. If you find a horse loose on or near a road, call the police immediately. If you can warn oncoming traffic about the horse, try to do so.
