Learn to Clean and Fillet a Trout in a Few Easy Steps

Keeping a fish or two for a delicious feed? Have a look at this super simple way to clean and filet a trout in a couple of simple cuts.

This a great way to clean and filet a trout if they are in the mid-size range in a few simple steps for that next delicious fish recipe.

You can call this fish cleaning trick the "banana method" as after the initial cut and gutting you are literally peeling the trout skin off like a banana. This is a great technique for mid-size trout that are around 12 inches. Much bigger than that and they will be to hard to peel out. Any smaller and you can pretty much cook them whole with the skin on once gutted.

While I am a catch and release guy for most trout, especially wild strains, there is nothing wrong with keeping one or two for a delicious meal. For my money, I will take a few mid-sized brookies any day, as it can be one of the best eating fish you can catch.
