Is It a Shark or a Dolphin? The Internet Debates

In a video that went viral this week (in my feed, at least), a great white shark can be seen emerging from the depths of the ocean with most of a sea creature in its mouth.

"Ah f—k," yelled one man with a thick Australian accent while another with an equally thick Australian dialect added, "Look at the size of the thing" followed by what sounded like gibberish.

Although the video is titled, "Great White vs Dolphin," some in the comments believe by the look of the dead animal that it is in fact a shark, which set off an ongoing debate over whether or not it's a shark or a dolphin.

"It's another shark NOT a dolphin," said Instagram user inspector_gadget32, who had the top comment and argued that you can see the shark's mouth under the jaw and it has a shark tail.

"Dolphin tail fins ride EAST to WEST, Shark tail fin is shaped North and South. You can see the shape on BOTH tails. It's definitely a dead shark, prob dead before he even got to it or maybe not but I'm 110% it's NOT a dolphin," the Instagram user said.

However, others disagreed, saying that inspector_gadget32 was actually "110% wrong" because the head of the dead animal has a bottlenose. "The dolphin is held on its side so the tail is rotated 90 degrees."And then it goes on and on like that.

Of course, these are just armchair experts — myself included — but personally, I think it does look like a dolphin. But what do you think?
