"Extreme" Horse Celebrates Snow Day in the Best Possible Way

This horse knows a snow day means tons of fun, and has his very own version of sledding.

When you were a kid, a snow day was likely the best thing in your world. There was no school, you could sleep in, and you and your friends could go sledding or build snowmen all day long. And then, there are always the epic snowball fights to round up the day. Well, one horse loves snow days even more than you did, and he's certainly was not going to let a fresh snowfall go to waste.

Everyone thinks sledding is fun, including this guy. Best of all, he doesn't even need a sled! All he needs is a good hill, a slick coat, and some snow to turn his backyard into a scene more often seen in the Winter X Games.

Many horses seem to like a snow day every now and again. They get silly and often run and buck when there's fresh snow on the ground. It seems that they like the change of weather just as much as we do, though you'll definitely want to prepare horses for extremely cold winters. Still, fresh snow can be the perfect opportunity for a fun ride with your friends, but before you saddle up, check the footing. Snow can cover up ice, and the last thing you want to do is come across slick footing while you're on your horse.

If the footing is okay, then go ahead and saddle up. Just remember that walking through snow is just as hard for your horse as it is for you. Snowy rides are physically demanding, especially if your horse has had some time off, so take it easy and keep your ride shorter than normal.

Before you head out, grease up the inside of your horse's hooves with some cooking spray or Vaseline to help keep the snow from building up during your ride. And, of course, have a great time!
