Here's How to Take Advantage of All the Features on a Nikon Inline XR 3-9x40mm Muzzleloader Scope

The Nikon Inline XR 3-9x40mm muzzleloader scope has some really useful bullet drop compensating features. Here's how to take advantage of them.

If you've ever wanted to extend the range on your muzzleloader a bit, the bullet drop compensating features on the Nikon Inline XR 3-9x40mm scope can be really helpful. No muzzleloader will ever be able to compare with the ballistics of a centerfire rifle, but a hunter using a good quality muzzleloader and a nice scope like the Nikon Inline XR can ethically take shots at a longer range than you would think.

Even though the Nikon Inline XR muzzleloader scope has some really cool features, don't be tempted to "stretch the barrel" on your muzzleloader when hunting. Extreme long range hunting is a pretty dicey proposition with a flat shooting centerfire rifle, never mind a muzzleloader shooting slower and less aerodynamic bullets.

What constitutes an "ethical shot" really depends on a bunch of different factors, so it's impossible to say that shots out past a certain range are unethical. However, I will say that just because a scope can help you compensate for the range at 300 yards doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea to take a shot at that range while hunting with a muzzleloader.

That being said, the Nikon Inline XR muzzleloader scope is still a really darn useful piece of gear and can take a lot of the guesswork out of connecting on shots at longer than normal ranges (for a muzzleloader, anyway). If you're interested in picking one up for yourself, Muzzle-Loaders.com is a good place to buy one.
