Gear Review: Work Sharp Guided Field Sharpener

The Guided Field Sharpener refines the dullest knives, and does it all right there in the field.

The Work Sharp Guided Field Sharpener makes knife sharpening a whole lot easier. It is small with a compact design, yet provides all the necessary tools for giving your Buck knives, pocket knives, filet knives, garden tools, fish hooks, and broadheads razor sharp edges.

Processing or quartering a deer, elk, or bear no longer needs to be done with a dull knife, EVER. Work Sharp, which is based out of Oregon, designed this sharpener specifically for the outdoorsman, knowing that hunters and anglers already carry enough in their packs.

The Guided Field Sharpener has both coarse and fine diamond plates for honing in on the perfect edge. The sharpener comes with built-in sharpening guides of 20 and 25 degree angles for consistent blade edges. The angle guides can actually allow you to restore the bevel angle for a sharp knife.

Even gut hooks on hunting knives and serrated knives are able to be sharpened like a piece of cake. The small ceramic rod is useful for sharpening and refining the serration on a knife. Additionally, the sharpener is equipped with ceramic rods to refine it before finalizing the edge with a leather strop.

But that's not all. The sharpener is also beneficial for the angler to sharpen dull fish hooks as well. The large ceramic rods are grooved for this exact reason. Finally, the tools comes with a three blade and four blade broadhead wrench, making it helpful to sharpen broadhead blades as well.

Additional Applications

Of course, there are many other applications for the Work Sharp Guided Field Sharpener. One of the most practical is a tool sharpener. Axe heads, pruners, and scissors are all able to be sharpened by the field sharpener. This makes it very useful for common camp tools and basic hiking tools.

There's a small storage compartment and a lanyard hole, so you don't lose it in the woods.

Finally, all pieces of the knife sharpener are sold separately in case a piece needs replacing. As a result, the sharpener comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

The Guided Field Sharpener really is the complete knife sharpening tool for any outdoorsman or woman.
