Fishing Trip Turns Tragic After Father And 7-Year-Old Drown In Boating Accident: Survivor Clung To Tree

A trip on the water turned tragic for a father and his 7-year-old son. Both tragically died in a boating accident on a Washington State river at the end of October.

The Clallam County Sheriff's Office confirmed that both passed away on October 30. Their boat capsized on the Bogachiel River. Another person on the boat managed to survive by holding onto a tree. They called the police. Two adults and a child ended up in the waters. This included the father and son.

Both 35-year-old Christian Akers of Sequim and his 7-year-old son Wyatt died at the scene. Father and son drowned after the boating accident. Meanwhile, Alphonso Graham, who also went into the water, remains missing.

Father And Son Die

"The Clallam County Sheriff's Office extends our deepest condolences to the friends and family affected by this tragedy," the department said.

Police later located Akers dog safely after the boating accident. But Graham still hasn't been found more than a week later. Multiple search and rescue crews continued to comb the river for any signs of him. However, they had to suspend the search due to both high water volume and low visibility.

"He's just an amazing guy, he's worth more effort than has been put into this search," brother Axel Graham said, according to KOMO. "There's been no found body, no confirmation of mortality or anything like that, he's just someone who's worth it in every sense of the word."

Meanwhile, an obituary  mourned both father and son lost in the boating accident.

"Fishing was his lifelong passion, matched only by his love for the outdoors and for Georgia Bulldogs football," it read. "Christian loved his family deeply. He survived by his devoted wife, Daylee Joers Akers, and took great joy in sharing his love of the outdoors with his sons, Wyatt and Aiden, who shared his curiosity, courage, and bright spirit."

Meanwhile, the family described Wyatt as kind and loving.

"He especially loved spending time with his brother, Aiden, and their adventures together will remain treasured memories to all who love them," it read.
