Fishing For Striped Bass in the Shadow of the Statue of Liberty

The striped bass bite is on in New York!

It feels like the fall is finally here and while many anglers have shifted gears from fishing to dreaming about that big buck walking by their treestand, there is still plenty of fishing action to be had in many parts of the country if you know where to look.

Along many parts of the coastlines, the striped bass fishing bite is hot right now, making this one of the best times of year to target stripers. If you need further proof of that, look no further than BlacktipH's latest video.

We are used to seeing Joshua Jorgensen tangling with goliath groupers or sharks down in Florida. Today he's in New York City looking to catch his first striper ever. To our surprise, this ends up being one of the most action-packed videos he's released all year.

This makes us want to get out on the boat for some late summer striper action! Many anglers are truly missing out by putting away their fishing gear in August and September. Many fish are out and are fattening up for the long winter months, producing some of the best fishing of the year. It's not just the off-shore stuff that works either, many anglers have a lot of success surf fishing at this time of year too.

The waters around the Statue of Liberty make for an awesome backdrop to go fishing. What a cool experience to fish in this spot. The only thing that made it better was how fast the fishing action was. These guys couldn't keep the bass off the line!

We were surprised to see this was the first time Josh has ever fished for stripers. After seeing the success they had here, we are sure it will not be the last time he targets them either!
