This amazing fishing cabin in South Florida near Pompano, outside of Everglades National Park, is only accessible by boat or helicopter. The incredible property, built on stilts, includes wraparound walkways, three buildings—a bunk house with eight beds, a fish-cleaning station, and a full bathroom—and an impressive deck...not to mention a helicopter pad. Built in 1986, it runs on a generator and has a self-supported septic system for the bathroom. It's truly a dream for those wishing to spend a relaxing weekend fishing and enjoying the quiet, surrounded by nothing but lily pads, wildlife, and endless views.
Unfortunately, this specific cabin is not open to the public, though alligators occasionally try to climb up the helicopter pad and onto the deck. In fact, the long-term leasers are normally home, and if not, they keep everything locked up. However, Hunter, the voice behind popular YouTube channel AnchorDownBoat. was able to visit the property with the owners to explore and capture drone videos.
The lucky renters enjoy a special lease by the local government. This property is "grandfathered" into land use with an agreement that private parties may lease it. "FWC [??Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission] leases the camps to people," writes a commenter. "The leases are something like 20 to 30 years. The same families have been out there as long as I can remember."
Because of the sensitive area and local habitat, repairs are allowed—encouraging an "all hands on deck" mentality to fix—but building new places like this is prohibited, making this place very special indeed.
