Country singer Cody Johnson drew a bit of controversy thanks to his recent hunting trip. The country singer went to Alaska and killed a grizzly bear. He posed with the dead animal in a social media photo.
The country singer wrote, "10 days deep in the Alaskan wilderness chasing grizzlies. Trip of a lifetime!"
It's not the first time that Johnson has posted about his hunting trips. Previously, he posted a hunting trip to Covered S Ranch where he became a record-holding hunter.
He said at the time, ""I wanna thank my buddy Patrick Smith for introducing me to Chet Pharies with the Covered S Ranch. The experience I had there will go down in history, not only in the Safari Club International record books, but it will go down in history as my greatest hunting accomplishment so far in my life! I never thought in a million years that I would hold a world record, and I'm so grateful not only to Patrick and Chet, but to Mark and Andrew at the Covered S ranch for their hard work and preparation that made this hunt possible."
Country Singer Draws Backlash
However, his latest trip drew controversy. Some called out the country singer for killing a grizzly bear in Alaska. Just look at the comment section.
"Poor bear, love your music but not this"
"Noooooo you are one of my favorite singers and this makes me want to cry"
"Love your music but not this."
"You shot a bear? Zero cool points dude."
"This makes me so sad 🙁 still love you though)"
Fortunately, some supporters also defended the country singer from backlash.
"Its so wild how bears trigger people more than any other animal. I blame Disney and Winnie the Poo. People equate beauty/cuteness to the value of the animal. And yet they dont understand how hunting is a tool to maintain a healthy, balanced, ecosystem. So they think its wrong. Im glad you have posted in this and exposed people to something humans have been doing eons. Its too bad everyones artificial lives have detached them from reality at such a remarkable level."
"Too many softies in this comment section. Just cause your emotions don't agree doesn't mean it's wrong"
