A bride had her honeymoon turn into a fight for survival after falling ill in Japan. Then 27-year-old is now back in the US with acute liver failure.
Sarah Danh and Luke Gradl's honeymoon didn't go according to plan. The couple is now back in Texas after Sarah fell ill. AirMed helepd fly the nurse back to America for treatment.
"Thank you to HCA Healthcare and Methodist Hospital for providing the medical flight home," the couple told People. "That generosity means more to us than we can put into words."
Gradl and Le continue, "A huge thank you to the medical team in Japan — the doctors and nurses who worked nonstop to keep Saradh stable up until evacuation. We'll never forget your care and dedication. To the AirMed team, thank you for moving so quickly and making everything come together when it mattered most. You made a real difference for us. We're also so thankful to the team in San Antonio for being ready and waiting for Sarah. Knowing she was going into such good hands brought us peace during a very uncertain time."
Bride Falls Ill on Honeymoon
The couple also launched a GoFundMe for support as the bride continues to battle the mysterious health ailment. The exact cause of her decline is unknown. It will require more tests.
"Whether we know you personally or you reached out from somewhere far away, your kindness, prayers, and support helped carry us through one of the hardest times in our lives," Gradl and Le say. "You gave us comfort, strength, and hope when we needed it most."
"And most of all, thank you to our family for being there every step of the way," the family added. "Your love and support kept us going through it all. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us."
